The uncivil civil union

Posted by Jesus on April 19, 2007

Well, I guess it’s time to either pack up and leave New Hampshire or dig in and fight for God. For those of you living in that fair state these have become your choices. Dad has decided that you’re no longer allowed to hang out and just be a spectator in New Hampshire, as a trend even among Christians of not getting involved has allowed a major victory to be had by homosexuals in your state. Oh, you haven’t heard? Well let me fill you in then, children - New Hampshire loves fags. It’s irrefutable, in black and white, and outright appalling. How could you let this happen?

From the article:

Gov. John Lynch told The Associated Press on Thursday he will sign legislation establishing civil unions in New Hampshire.

New Hampshire thus will become the fourth state to adopt civil unions and the first to do so without first having a court fight over denying gays the right to marry.

“I believe it is a matter of conscience, fairness and preventing discrimination,” Lynch said in an interview.

What about conscience, fairness, and preventing discrimination in regards to Christians then? A good Christian cannot in good conscience allow this to continue. Christians also take upon themselves, for the most part, a more strict set of rules and regulations in their lives. This is evident in marriage, where these rules are upheld largely by society. Now, with civil unions, even people who don’t adhere to more strict rules can have the same benefits. What’s the reward, then, for getting married?

You see, it’s not just a matter of being against homosexuality, which I obviously am and you obviously should be too. There’s a secondary problem with the allowance of civil unions, and that’s the famed slippery slope potential. In the case of civil unions, the slippery slope begins with the introduction of something which carries all of the benefits of marriage, but without the commitment and expectations of marriage. I guarantee you it won’t take long for people to recognize this, and you’ll soon find roommates, siblings, friends, and even single coworkers getting civil union ceremonies for tax purposes. Heck, taken to its logical conclusion people will soon begin joining hands in union with their pet salamander or their XBOX to keep from paying as much in taxes. In the end the only people practicing real, Christian marriage will be Christians. The biggest problem with that, of course, is that marriage has long been a way to minister to those who don’t know me. You start giving people an alternative and they’ll use it, and in the process they’ll move even further from Dad’s will.

It goes well beyond just the crippling and mangling of our moral society and its conventions, this problem with homosexual revolution in America. We all know that if presented with a homosexual I would love and respect them, as should you. Do you think for one minute, however, that I’d allow them to be granted the power to shape society? Do you think I’d be watching silently as homosexuality becomes more accepted and tolerated in America if I were there? Do you think I’d allow, for even one minute, any elected official to whom I am expected to give advise as a would-be citizen to vote for this kind of crap? Certainly not. If you live in New Hampshire, the absolute least you should do is write a letter. Better yet, take a drive and schedule an appointment with the Governor. Even better yet, organize a couple of hundred thousand of like-minded God Warriors and form a circle around the capital building and sing praise songs in protest until you all perish from natural exhaustion, dehydration, and hunger. Yeah, that’ll show em.

Either way, you have to act. Your nation is falling, and the pace is picking up. This newly incorporated law is but the most recent example of an America on the edge of complete alienation of God’s expectations. With the rise of churches in places like Nigeria and the newly devout beginning to amass numbers which rival those found in America, you’re all in real danger of losing your “highly favored” status. What this means is that Dad will bless America a little less, I will take my vacations elsewhere, and we’ll generally spend more time away. We go where we’re called, and for the past couple of hundred years America has maintained the greatest calling. Your support is eroding, just as the checks you once held over homosexuality and abortion are fading. This is one of those cases where people need to put up or shut up, and New Hampshire just happens to be the battleground.
