Texas appoints a creationist to run education

There’s a story over at the DefCon Blog about Texas Governor Rick Perry’s decision to appoint Don McLeroy, a noted creationist and semi-fundamentalist, to the top job in the state’s education system. Apparently the fact that Don has spoken out against the teaching of evolutionary biology in the past and will continue to do so as the individual most responsible for choosing the curriculum is a bad thing to many people. We here in Heaven couldn’t be happier!

You see, these are the type of people who need to be running education in America right now. I’ve been in Texas for almost two weeks pulling this together, and it’s one my my most proud victories. Governor Perry really didn’t intend to go with a such a hardcore believer in the beginning, but I’m a pretty persuasive guy when I want to be. Plus Dad sent an angel to tell him we’d have him damned in his sleep if he went against the Will of the Lord. And then we finally caved in and got him the hookers and blow he wanted, plus made a contribution to his campaign and a matching one to his charity, then made a donation to his wife’s organization, and then finally we made contributions to each of his kids’ private charities. I like to think that in the end he did it for the kids though.

So Perry put the right guy in at the helm in Texas, I’ve done a good deed, and we’ve dispatched envoys to the White House to discuss the possibility of placing McLeroy in as the head of the whole education system in America once Bush is reelected. Things are running really smoothly in Heaven as of late, ever since Tammy Faye took over as receptionist. You’ve got to love it when a plan comes together!
