"To assert that the earth revolves around the sun is as erroneous as to claim that Jesus was not born of a virgin." -Cardinal Bellarmine

Another “Devil made him do it” story

Posted by Jesus on May 20, 2007

Today’s Jesus Jackpot goes to a woman who tells it like it is. How many of you remember that story a while back about the lady microwaving her baby? Recently Joshua Royce Mauldin did the same to his daughter, severely burning the infant. There’s a twist though, and a pretty major one. Joshua is studying to be a shepherd, a minister in my flock. Of course Satan doesn’t want what would otherwise be a solid force for good in a community undertaking such a task, so the Devil himself obviously talked this young man into putting the child in the microwave. Obviously.

Top 10 reasons to believe in God

Posted by Jesus on

There are exactly six hundred trillion billion thousand, nine hundred and seventy two reasons to believe in God. Moses and I spent most of our Sabbath yesterday in a little boat out on my private pond pondering them all, and from our discussion came a list. I won’t bore you with the details. Here we go!

James Dobson wants more airtime

Posted by Jesus on May 18, 2007

“Look at who I’m not voting for! Look at who I won’t elect!” James Dobson has come out and testified to his inability to vote for Giuliani because of the former mayor’s support for abortion, homosexuality, and his failed marriages. Hooray. I mean it’s an admirable position, but really, everybody already knows not to vote for him. Dobson’s a smart enough guy to know that Dad won’t let Giuliani win, so why would he even need to come out and quack about it?

Is the Bible indecent?

Posted by Jesus on May 16, 2007

According to this website, the Bible should be banned because it has indecent material in it, including sexual and violent content which has already gotten lesser books banned. Wait, what do you mean you don’t read Chinese? Are you telling me that you’re out there in the world trying to be more like me and you still haven’t learned the language that might help you convert the most populated nation on Earth? Tell me this isn’t a joke. I’m hyperventilating here…I thought you all spoke…oh man…oh man, that’s no good…I gotta call Moses…there goes that plan.

Prince and the New Biblical Funk

Posted by Jesus on

Dad and I were sitting up late last night talking about some things, and He mentioned wanting to put together a big music festival for Christians. Since the Holy Spirit has been to a few we asked her what she would like to see in one planned and executed by God Himself. Although most of her answers were dodgy and a little difficult to work into The Plan - she wanted to see a lot more writhing on the ground while speaking in tongues, for instance - some of her points were very well taken. Better and cheaper food, she suggested, would keep the masses from leaving over what might well end up being several weeks of music. Perfect weather, which she indicated might actually
include a little rain, would make the environment right for music and worship. And most importantly, she suggested that we find some better music, as most Christian bands just outright suck.

It’s good to be home

Posted by Jerry Falwell on May 15, 2007

Hi folks! I’ve come home! A few hours ago I was standing in my office talking to God about my future and He kept saying something about “the righteous now,” then the next thing I knew I was standing at a little door. There were a bunch of angels hanging about, along with Jesus, Mary Magdalene, a monkey (who later turned out to be God!), and Anna Nicole Smith. I asked them “where are Saint Peter and the big Gates?”

“That’s the main door, there’s always a line there,” said Jesus, pointing at a small crowd off in the distance. “This is the V.I.P. entrance. Welcome home, brother.”

God Needed Falwell More

Posted by Jesus on

You’ve probably heard by now, Jerry Falwell is dead. I just popped in to settle some questions a lot of you are asking and to let you know that everything is quite alright. He’s here with us and sends his love to everyone. We’re all very sorry it came to pass so quickly, but Dad decided to pull him for a special duty here in Heaven. We’re starting a Law School of our own, you see, to combat the one run by Satan over in Baltimore, and Dad thought Falwell would be an awesome Dean of the new H.C. State Law School.

Jesus hears a Jew

Posted by Jesus on

We had a huge BBQ last night at Dad’s place up on the hill. Man, does He know how to throw down! Spirit’s back, and He’s so happy at her return that he called an all-hands party. This is the guy who invented the story of the prodigal son, you’ll recall. The party was bigger than the one He threw when I came home, but only because there are more people in Heaven now than there were before. Of course mine lasted a year and a day, so in reality I won. Mom always wanted a daughter, but Dad needed a son.

And get this - you’re never gonna believe this - guess who I hung out with all night at the party…

A unique opportunity

Posted by Jesus on May 14, 2007

There are some stories which are sad even to God. Stop and think about the relevance of anything He chooses to do which could sadden Him. We’re talking about God, who can do pretty much anything He pleases, and still He chooses to enforce rules which sometimes make Him sad. It’s rather profound when you think about it. There’s a story today which presents us a truly unique opportunity to see this at work. You won’t see it often. This is going to sting, but I have to go over the lesson to be had.

A six year old girl died last Friday evening of a self-inflicted, accidental scissor wound to the neck. According to the article she was “standing on a wheeled, office-style chair when it moved and she lost her balance.” Now you all know how much I love little girls, so this is especially difficult for me. Sometimes, though, we just have to make sure you all remember Exodus 20:12.

Islam vs. Christianity: to bomb or not to bomb

Posted by Jesus on May 13, 2007

One can determine the temperament of one’s enemies by reading their war manual. The Bible speaks of peace and passivity; my own life on your planet was punctuated by a death which was not resisted. Muslims live by a completely different system, one which is deadly and dangerous. Our story begins at a small church, where Rev. Gary Murrell has decided to begin informing Christians of these core differences.

Murrell has put a sign in front of his church very much like those which you all see each and every day on busy roads in your typical American towns, but his does not carry the usual feel-good message or clever God qiup. Instead, this preacher uses his small billboard to contrast how fundamentalist muslims and fundamentalist Christians differ when deciding whether or not to explode one’s self in a crowded market.
